The subsidy is transferred to the eligible beneficiary's bank account after commissioning and verification.
Property / ownership supporting documents, if requested
Your DISCOM or local process may ask for supporting ownership or consent documents depending on the connection and property.
Application process, step by step
- 1
Register on the national portal
Create an account on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your state, DISCOM, and electricity consumer number.
- 2
Apply for rooftop solar
Submit your application with the required documents (checklist below) and wait for feasibility approval from your DISCOM.
- 3
Get it installed by an approved vendor
Choose an MNRE-empanelled / DISCOM-registered installer. Only systems installed by approved vendors qualify for the subsidy.
- 4
Apply for net metering
After installation, your DISCOM inspects the system and installs a bidirectional (net) meter.
- 5
Receive subsidy in your bank account
Once commissioned and verified, the central subsidy is credited directly to your bank account, subject to the portal and DISCOM verification process.
For the full sequence from registration through commissioning, see thePM Surya Ghar application process.
Common reasons applications get delayed
- Applicant details don't match the electricity connection or supporting records.
- The selected vendor or installation does not meet the scheme/DISCOM requirements.
- A supporting document requested for the specific connection or property is missing.
- DISCOM feasibility, inspection, metering, or commissioning is still pending.
Check the subsidy for your location
The central PM Surya Ghar benefit is only part of the calculation. State incentives, electricity tariffs, DISCOM rules, and solar generation affect your final cost and payback. Use thestate-wise solar subsidy calculatorsor estimate your system directly with the India solar subsidy and payback calculator.
Requirements can vary by state, DISCOM, and application situation. Always cross-check the current list on the official portal, pmsuryaghar.gov.in, before applying.
